Shipyards Mutants - Open Show Pergine
MEET THE LOOK
The work of Richard Bargas was born from an idea developed in 1990 was to create three sculptures representing himself and the prevailing sentiment of his life with others: Be square, Black Sheep and feel like shit.
It 's interesting today in the "Cantieri Mutants - Pergine Open Show," giving life to a work that maintains stability over the years and at the same time, the trend is that the artist himself of his artistic vision. The use of figurative sculptures autoritrattistica follows a form that is generated by the representation of the perception of self discovery through the same eyes, seen or imagined, of others. Identity is a construct that refers to the concept of plurality, referring to the relationship with the surrounding world, even when others feel different or absent. The Black Sheep and feeling like shit to express this relationship away from the norm, understood as a norm regulating a "middle man", which generates a feeling of loneliness, but also an experience of custody of their uniqueness. The distance perceived as a lack, however, is also generating a desire to discover and find out who is related to him. Hence the sculpture to close ranks, mainly in its central position with respect to the other, as the district itself in a protected space that does not close to certainty, even in the breaking of its angles finds inspiration irregularity.
From the choice of these sculptures, which change color in relation to states of mind, maintaining the common denominator of the jacket and black tie, a symbol of professional status of the artist in the years '89 and '90, you can see the aspiration at art differently. The evolution of this work in the festival Pergine be to surround the statues with the drawings, made notes as your eyes, under the project, which will also be reported to evoke multiple meanings of words and different. Each note will be taken in days and in different colors in reference to the relationship of the artist with three themes, which he considered fundamental in his living room in Pergine. With the color black represent the view of the castle overlooking the city rooted in a history of events that took place and belonging to the imaginary, to be exercised by this historical deconstruction, with the color red will play the cultural contamination which will emerge from his living in a place of creation and expression, and finally the silver trace the meeting took place with people in communal areas of the city. The last phase of the project will be to involve an outsider actress Vanessa Orlando that will give the word, with the acting, the work performed, but also to the premises of the former psychiatric hospital Pergine. It will be by confinement the past of these places which will emerge the breath of freedom of expression of living differently. The only item sought and discovered by this work.
